UFC on ESPN 55 takes place on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and this is a solid fighter card. Let’s take a look at a free play on each of the main card fights to make your Saturday a winning one.
Matheus Nicolau vs Alex Perez
Nicolau -180 / Perez +150 // Total Rounds: 4.5
Matheus Nicolau and Alex Perez face off in a featherweight battle that could have championship implications with it. Nicolau was originally supposed to face off against Manel Kape, but he had to withdraw from the fight, so Perez stepped in on short notice. Perez has shown some flashes in the UFC, but his style also makes it so he can get caught. He is a reckless fighter and that at times has really hurt them. On paper, Nicolau is the better fighter, but I still think he’s going to be upset here. Perez is going to be hunting the knockout early, and he’s going to find a way to land the big punches. Back Perez on the money line.
Ryan Spann vs Bogdan Guskov
Spann -180 / Guskov +154 // Total Rounds: 1.5
Ryan Spann and Bogdan Guskov face off in a light heavyweight battle, and both of these fighters are knockout artists. They like to put the pressure early, and both are going to hunt the knockout early. This is in the UFC Apex, which means a smaller cage and that means less places for either of these fighters to hide. I do think Spann comes away with the win, but I don’t really have a strong feeling on the side. One of these guys is going to get the finish, and it will be quick. Back under 1.5 rounds.
Ariane Lipski vs Karine Silva
Lipski +136 / Silva -162 // Total Rounds: 2.5
Ariane Lipski and Karine Silva face off in a fight that should be exciting between two fighters that are very opposite. Silva is elite at getting the finish and has had 17 coming by stoppage during her career. Lipski is known as the queen of violence, and she is going to try to show why early in this fight. Silva no doubt can get the finish, but I like the value here with Lipski. Lipski is going to find a way to not get finished, and she’s a little more experienced fighter. This one might go to the final bell, and Lipski is going to come out on top. Back Lipski on the money line.
Austen Lane vs Jhonata Diniz
Lane +245 / Dinz -305 // Total Rounds: 1.5
Jhonata Diniz is making his official UFC debut, but there are high expectations for how he will perform during his UFC career. Diniz is averaging 7.69 significant strikes per minute, and he has knockout power that he can show off at any time. Austen Lane in his last fight was against Justin Tafa and it early in the first round that he was knocked out. Diniz has the knockout power, and he’s going to be impressive again here. Lane is going to be knocked out early. Back Diniz by knockout.
Jonathan Pearce vs David Onama
Pearce -155 / Onama +130 // Total Rounds: 1.5
Jonathan Pearce and David Onama are both known for finishing and there are many who believe this fight is going to be over quickly, but there is a ton of value with the fight to go the distance. Especially, Pearce is going to do a good job of grinding out of this fight. This might be a finish, but there is too much value here to not bet this fight to go the distance at plus money. Back the fight to go the distance.
