Tyler Glasnow gets the nod for the home team while the Giants will counter with top prospect Kyle Harrison. According to MLB odds, the Dodgers are -225 on the moneyline while the total resides at 8.5.

Wednesday night’s three-game series finale at Dodger Stadium is a pitching matchup between Tyler Glasnow of the Los Angeles Dodgers and youngster Kyle Harrison of the San Francisco Giants.
Glasnow brings three plus pitches to the mound with a 96 mph fastball, a slider he trusts enough to throw quite often, and a curveball. The results through his first two starts with the Dodgers have been a bit surprising in that his strikeout rate is way down to 19% (career 30.6%) and his walk rate is up to 11.9% (career 9.7%).
His fastball was down one mph in 2023, which may be the new norm. He still pumps gas, but not to the extent he used to and his fastball run value ranked in just the 49th percentile a year ago while his barrel rate of 11.6% was in just the fourth percentile.
San Francisco has been just fine at the dish to start the year, sporting a 105 wRC+. The lineup was bolstered by offseason acquisitions of leadoff man Jung Hoo Lee, slugger Jorge Soler, and everyday third baseman Matt Chapman. Right fielder Mike Yastrzemski returned from the paternity list on Monday, providing yet another impact bat.
Harrison is a promising young left-hander that the organization has high hopes for. He’s still unproven, however, after sporting a 4.55 xERA and 5.53 FIP across his first seven starts at the Big League level a year ago.
While he earned the win in his first start against the Padres, he may have been a bit fortunate to not allow more damage than he did. The lefty’s barrel rate of 16.7% left a lot to be desired and his 5.65 xERA and 6.03 FIP are indicators that he’s still working out how to carry over his Minor League success to the next level.
Los Angeles is mashing at the plate, which should come as no surprise considering how loaded the lineup is. The Dodgers have a .377 wOBA and 129 wRC+ and have scored 5+ runs in every game this season.
The Giants’ bullpen has been a disaster this far, rocking an 8.06 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in a horrific start. Logan Webb lasted only 3 2/3 innings last night as the Dodgers got to him early and often. This bullpen is taxed more than would be ideal.
The weather forecast calls for winds of 5.8 mph blowing out to right-center field. Give me the Over.

Jung Hoo Lee has been a great addition. He signed with San Francisco following seven successful years in Korea, where he posted a .340 BA. The leadoff man has already collected two multi-hit games and early returns are promising, so I’ll buy his Overs at a decent price.
If Lee is getting on base then there’s a decent chance SF’s power bats behind him drive home a run with the wind blowing out to right-center. Glasnow hasn’t thrown more than 81 pitches across either of his first two starts and L.A.’s bullpen has a 5.08 ERA. These props will remain live for the entirety of the game.
